Memorial Service Honors Jeremiah Harris
CLARKSDALE – A memorial service Wednesday afternoon honoring the late Jeremiah Sean Harris of Hoover, Ala., a member of the Coahoma Community College Tiger football team, included prayers, readings from Scripture, music by the CCC Concert Choir, special remarks and a lighting of candles.
With students, faculty, staff and others joining members of the CCC Tiger team sitting together in the Pinnacle, the Concert Choir under the direction of Kelvin Towers sang ‘We Offer Praise” and “God is Keeping Me.”
Coach Freeman Horton praised Harris, a defensive end, as “one of the hardest-working members of the team” who worked out every day.
With Mr. and Miss CCC Wairterrica Galmore and Gregory Holly presiding over the program, math instructor Joe Harrison Rockett opened the service with a prayer.
Principal remarks were made by Dr. I. D. Thompson, principal of Coahoma Agricultural High School.
Tiger teammates surrounded the memorial service centerpiece to light candles around Harris’ photograph and football jersey.
The funeral service is being held Thursday in Birmingham, Ala.
