Giveaways, Contests, Halftime Shows Will Accompany Home Basketball Games
During the 2013-2014 Coahoma Community College basketball season, fans will have even more incentive to come out and cheer on the Tigers during home games. Giveaways and fan driven promotional contests will add extra excitement during games at the Pinnacle, and some special halftime performances by a local dance team will turn up the entertainment level another notch.
Beginning with Coahoma’s Nov. 18th home contest with East Central Community College and ending with the Tigers Feb. 13th matchup with Northeast Community College, each of CCC’s games at the Pinnacle will feature a different theme, with T-shirt giveaways; or a promotional contest that will give fans an opportunity to win Walmart gift cards.
And, during the home opener, the Sparkling Jewels will present a special halftime dance performance. The dance team is also scheduled to perform on Saturday, Jan. 11, during the Homecoming game January 18, Feb. 3 and Feb. 13 during the regular season home finale.
“We want our fans to get the full ‘Tiger Experience’,” said Assistant Athletic Director Selina Reid. “We want to get the crowd involved and excited and we want Coahoma to be the place to come for basketball and entertainment. We want to reach out to the community and offer something that they can come and do together as a family and enjoy themselves.”
The Nov. 18th home opener will carry a “white-out” theme where all students are encouraged to were white shirts in a show of unity and support, and 100 (non-student) Tiger fans will receive white Coahoma T-Shirts. During the Dec. 12th home game against Jones Community College, a “Hot Shots” contest will be held during halftime and the winner will receive a $25 Walmart Gift Card.
Other events planned for future home games include a 3-point contest, a half court shot contest, a free throw contest and games similar to those on the popular television game show, ‘A Minute to Win It.”
“We’re going to give fans an opportunity to sign-up for the contests when they come in the door, and we will have a drawing to see who is going to compete that night,” said Reid. “We will have one contest during halftime of the women’s game and another during halftime of the men’s game.”
T-shirt giveaways are also scheduled for the Dec. 5 game (black out), the Jan. 18 Homecoming game (maroon out) and the final regular season home contest Feb. 13 (pink out).
