Tigers, Lady Tigers Drop Non-Conference Games in Baton Rogue
BATON ROUGE — After picking up four-consecutive wins in the MACJC North Division during the last two weeks, the Coahoma Community College men’s basketball team had their winning streak snapped by non-conference opponent Baton Rogue Community College on the road during a makeup contest Monday night.
In a game described as “physical” by Tigers Head Coach Ira Peterson, the Bears outscored the Tigers in the paint (46-30) and pulled down 11 more rebounds than CCC in the loss, 89-71.
Coahoma was led by sophomores Darcee Carson (Cleveland, MS), who scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Markevius Brown (Mound Bayou, MS) who added 15 points and six boards in the losing effort.
It was a tough night overall shooting for the Tigers who hit just 25-of-64 total shots from the field (8-of-22 from behind the 3-point arc).
The Tigers will need to have a short memory as they close out their regular season schedule Thursday night on the road in Scooba, MS against MACJC North Division opponent East Mississippi. Coahoma will be looking to gain momentum heading into the postseason tournament, as well as, exact a little revenge from an early-season loss to EMCC on their home floor.
