SkillsUSA Instructors Treated to Lavish Hot Southern Breakfast

CLARKSDALE – National SkillsUSA Week is in full swing at Coahoma Community College with CCC’s Career and Technical Education students and instructors emphasizing the importance of their career paths ranging from welding and the culinary arts to carpentry, computer servicing and early childhood education, says Shelia Sanders, SkillsUSA counselor.

With students wearing red SkillsUSA t-shirts, Sanders says events are taking place daily including an Instructor Appreciation Breakfast Tuesday in the Gallery prepared by the culinary arts department students.

“From 9 to 11 a.m. instructors and counselors were treated to a lavish hot breakfast of turkey and pork sausage, biscuits, grits, scrambled eggs, French toast, fruit juices and beverages, and chocolate cake,” says Sanders.

Officially proclaiming the observance Wednesday was Dr. Vivian Presley, college president, and on Thursday, students were scheduled to read to youngsters at the Aaron Henry Head Start Center.

“Expect a blaze of red on Friday with our students wearing their SkillsUSA shirts,” says Sanders.

On Feb. 26-27 in Jackson, top students accompanied by their instructors will be competing in their fields in written exams and demonstrations of their skills.
