Senate Resolution Honors Dr. Vivian Presley
CLARKSDALE – A standing ovation followed Friday’s reading of a framed resolution from the Mississippi Senate praising Dr. Vivian M. Presley for her distinguished career as president of Coahoma Community College.
Introduced into the state Legislature by Sen. Robert Jackson, D-Marks, the resolution detailed Dr. Presley’s accomplishments during her 38 years at CCC
The historic reading took place at Dr. Presley’s final Administrative Council meeting before her retirement when Dr. Valmadge Towner of Marks becomes CCC’s fifth president July 1.
Participating in the presentation were Sen Jackson, Dr. Towner, Donald Green and Dr. Rosetta Howard who read the resolution.
Overcome emotionally, Dr. Presley thanked Sen. Jackson, lawmakers, and college officials for the tribute.
Dr. Towner added his own personal accolades and admiration of Dr. Presley viewed from days as a Coahoma student, trustee, and educator.
