Towner Taps Killebrew as New Public Relations Director
CLARKSDALE, MS - On Monday afternoon, Coahoma Community College announced that its Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Matthew Killebrew, the current publisher of the Clarksdale Press Register, to replace Panny Mayfield as the college’s Director of Public Relations.
Mayfield has served CCC in this capacity for more than two decades, and her dedication and love for the college and its students, faculty and administration will be missed.
Killebrew has served as the Press Register’s publisher since December of 2010 and said that he is excited to begin his new journey with the college, and that during his time in Clarksdale; he has come to realize the importance of the role that CCC plays in the local community and the surrounding Mississippi Delta.
“Coahoma Community College is such an important fixture in Clarksdale and Coahoma County providing a quality and affordable education and a myriad of educational opportunities for new high school graduates, as well as, non-traditional students looking to improve their quality of life,” said Killebrew. “From its GED programs, to its Career and Technical programs or as a stepping stone to a four-year degree, CCC is providing an ongoing educational outlet for its students.”
Before coming to Clarksdale, Killebrew worked in a communications role for a global medical device company in Memphis. His background includes eight years of newspaper writing, editing and management experience and a stint as a Public Affairs Official for the Department of the Army, as a civilian contractor, for the 101st Airborne Air Assault Division in Fort Campbell, KY. He is a graduate of Austin Peay State University where he majored in English with minors in professional and technical writing.
