Lady Tigers Drop Home Opener to East Central
Coahoma Community College’s Lady Tigers had their home opener spoiled by visiting East Central Community College Monday evening with the Lady Warriors closing out the final seven minutes of the first half on a 28-9 run.
Coahoma never recovered from the first half deficit and eventually fell, 79-49.
Monday night’s game was a rematch of the Lady Tigers season opener on the road at East Central. CCC looked to try and execute the same game plan as in the opener – slow down the Lady Warriors, and not let them run the floor and score in transition. Coahoma was able to keep things close in the early going, but the Lady Warrior’s run to close the half proved too much to overcome.
The Lady Tigers were led by sophomore guard Azande Collier’s 14 points. Freshman forward Ashley Smith added 10 points and freshmen Josta Totten and Errica Blair each chipped in seven.
Coahoma (1-3) will have some time off to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday before returning to action Monday, Dec. 2 when they play host to Jones Community College. Come out to the Pinnacle and sign up to compete in the “Hot Shots” contest that will be held during halftime of both the boys and girls games. Names will be drawn from the entries and fans will have a chance to win $25 gift cards from Walmart.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the men’s game to follow.
Coahoma: Totten 7, Blair 7, Sisk 5, Pearson 1, Collier 14, Smith 10, Williams 3, Irby 2.
