Coahoma to Host Mississippi Valley State Basketball on New Year’s Eve
CLARKSDALE — On New Year’s Eve, Coahoma Community College will be hosting Mississippi Valley State men’s basketball at the Pinnacle. The Delta Devils are in the middle of renovations to their own basketball gymnasium that will keep them on the road through 2014.
MVSU is playing is playing the majority of their “home” games at the Leflore County Convention Center in Greenwood this season, but when scheduling conflicts arise, they take their games to outlying gymnasiums.
So beginning at 2 p.m., Dec. 31st, the Delta Devils (3-7) will be taking on Selma University on the Coahoma Community College campus. Mississippi Valley State will be coming off games against Northwestern and Washington State on the road, and be glad to be home in the Delta.
“It will give local college alumni an easily accessible opportunity to see the Delta Devils basketball program without having to leave Clarksdale,” said CCC Public Relations Director Matt Killebrew. “It will also give local high school athletes and basketball fans an opportunity to experience major college basketball right in their own backyards.”
Coahoma Community College will also be offering special admission rates to this special game with any student in Coahoma or any surrounding county able to buy a ticket for just $3. Adult tickets for the New Year’s Eve game will be just $5.
The doors to the Pinnacle will open up at 1 p.m., with tip-off slated for 2 p.m.
