Following Win Over Pearl River, Tigers Host East Mississippi

CLARKSDALE – Following their 34-24 upset victory over Peal River Community College Sept. 20 in Poplarville, the Coahoma Community College Tigers will be hosting the East Mississippi Lions , America’s top JUCO team, at home Thursday, Sept. 27.

The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at James E. Miller Stadium.

Praising his players, CCC Coach Freeman Horton described the Tiger victory as a “complete team effort.”

Shutting out the Mississippi Delta Trojans 56-0 in Scooba Sept. 20 with 304 passing yards, the EMCC Lions bring a 4-0 season and 40-8 overall record into Clarksdale this week.

CCC quarterback Roderick McKee completed 13 of 24 passes for 247 yards in the win over Pearl River while runners Daveonn Porter and Elias Wells compiled 147 yards rushing.

On Thursday, Oct. 4, the Tigers play Northeast at home. Tiger games are broadcast on WNEV Radio (98.7).
