Coahoma Community College is excited to begin a campaign aimed at bolstering its Cheerleading program beginning this year, with scholarships available for young men and women looking to help the college promote its Athletic Program and the fundamental ideals of Tiger Nation.

The college has hired a new cheerleading coach, and has high expectations for her as she enters her first season.

I was so excited when I was approached with this opportunity, said new Coach Felicia Johnson, who is a former CCC Cheerleader and graduate in the class of 1989. I had so much fun as a Tiger cheerleader when I attended Coahoma, I never wanted to leave the campus.

I want to help get together a great group of young men and women who are full of energy and ready to bring the Tiger Spirit back to our campus.

The cheerleading program will be holding open clinics for prospective cheerleaders, tumblers and mascots on May 1 and 2 from 3 to 7 p.m. inside the Pinnacle located on the CCC campus. Those vying for spots will be given an application packet, and asked to fill out paperwork before the first session.

All those interested in participating need to bring with them is a sports physical that has been completed within the last calendar year.

After the cheer clinics on Thursday and Friday (May 1-2) an official tryout will be held on Saturday, May 3rd that will be judged on criteria contained within the application packets being handed out on May 1. You can also access this information on the CCC website at www.coahomacc.edu .

If you have any further questions about these tryouts, please contact Johnson at (662) 592-2520.
