CCC’s Spring Graduation Under Works
CLARKSDALE - Plans for Coahoma Community College’s Spring Commencement Exercise are well underway.
The graduation ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, in the Pinnacle. According to CCC Director of Admissions Michael Houston, so far there are a total of 355 prospective graduates.
“Everything has been running smoothly,” said Houston of the ceremony’s planning process. “The total numbers of graduates we have so far is about average when compared with previous years.”
Members of CCC’s Class of 1964 will experience the thrill of graduation all over again as they’ll be featured in the ceremony as golden graduates, commemorating their 50th year reunion celebration.
The speaker for the event has yet to be announced, Houston said. There is no limit to the number of guests graduates can invite and the event is open to the public.
“We’re encouraging graduates to invite their family and friends to share in this momentous occasion,” Houston said. “Graduation is a special time to celebrate ending one chapter in life and beginning the next one.”
Graduation practice is scheduled for May 7 at 8 a.m. for faculty and staff and 9 a.m. for students.
Cap and gowns will be issued immediately following graduation practice, and students must bring a receipt indicating that they’ve paid their $65 graduation fee in order to pick-up their cap and gown.
Graduates can pay graduation fees now through May 7 at the business office located in the Vivian M. Presley Administration Building.
