CCC’s Tiny Tigers Cheerleading Camp Set to Begin July 28
From chants and cheers to tumbles and stunts—young, aspiring cheerleaders will have the opportunity to experience all of this and more during Coahoma Community College’s 2014 Tiny Tigers Cheerleading Camp.
The co-ed camp will give girls and boys ages 4 to 14 the opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals of cheerleading from CCC’s new Cheerleading Coach, Felicia Johnson, and the CCC Cheer Squad. The week-long camp will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 28 through Aug.1 in the Pinnacle. Registration is $50 and lunch will be provided for campers daily.
According to Johnson, the camp is designed to reach students on all levels—from beginners who have never stunted before, to more experienced cheerleaders seeking to refine their skills.
“We’ll be teaching them the fundamentals and giving them quality instruction in all aspects of cheerleading,” said Johnson.
“They can come with no experience, but we’re definitely reaching out to elementary students who are already on the cheerleading teams at their schools.”
Johnson said cheerleading camps are the ideal place for young cheerleaders to break into the sport of cheerleading.
“We’re trying to get them prepared for high school, junior college and so forth. We have a lot of students that know some of the fundamentals, but they just need to be taught the correct way,” she said.
Johnson said the camp is also a great investment for the future and will help prepare the youngsters for success cheerleading on the college level.
“This is something that can help them in the future to secure scholarships and other opportunities that can help pay or possibly fully cover college expenses.”
Registration for the Tiny Tigers Cheerleading Camp will open July 1.
